House in Order...

Today I had to tidy up under the stairs to get a mobile hanging rack back in there - it was out for a cousin who was visiting from Scotland......anyway out fell my stash of envelopes.....the ones that arrive, with a lovely variety of items, from purchases to swaps to winnings......but at least it gave me a chance to decide whether I really needed to keep quite so many...

These had arrived in one of those oh so welcome envelopes, while I was away in the Northern Territory...
courtesy of Renata from wish upon a star as a giveaway on her blog. Thank you, Renata for such a generous prize and one that I know I will very much enjoy playing with.

Some of the squares have jumped at the chance to become little houses.....

Happy Blogtoberfest!
Pop over to Kat's 'house' to see who else is taking part...

A Happy Win & Rainbow Charms

During Blogtoberfest I entered a giveaway
at Everyone Deserves a Quilt *. My parcel from has Joanne arrived!
In it was some lovely fabric, a great pattern and these nifty binding clips.

Can't wait to try these clips - of course that means I actually have to make something that requires binding...

Thanks so much Joanne for picking me!

*if Australia ever decides to include a Bill of Rights  in the Constitution, I'm thinking this wording should be Right #1

RAINBOW CHARM SWAP

I've joined another swap...a fabric sharing swap. 16 of us are a sending off 80 x 5" squares. The colours we were allocated are based on this colour wheel...

Here are fabrics I chose and am sending off to Sharon - Lillabelle Lane - to sort and send me back a whole lotta charm goodness.

Tell me that you recognised my colours as violet, red-violet, red-orange, green and blue-green! I did spend a great deal of time choosing the fabric...just to get it completely right of course...no  obsessing went on...ok maybe just a little!

Really, I can't believe how easy it was to slice and dice the required number of squares.

I keep asking myself why can't I do this with fabric I already have?...and then create all those quilts that, in my imagination, I am furiously turning out?
Let's see what I can do when that package bursting with colour arrives and school holidays start...maybe a combination of time and effort might actually work!

Grinning...Blogtoberfest Day 8

I've had some fun wins in the last few days...

For her "100 Posts Giveaway" Ohjoh had a very interesting way of choosing her winner... you HAVE to go and see how Jenny and her kids did it. One of the most inventive ways I've seen...here's a hint...

This morning, I woke to find an email from Meg The Mad Quilting Librarian  - I've won her October giveaway...I've borrowed her picture to show you...
These prints are completely new to me - and I did me a bit of research -  Plume is from 2009 and Flutterby from 2007 - way before I put quilting and blogging together, so I am dying to see them in person!

Thank you, Meg and Thank you, Jenny.

Don't forget to have a look at some of the other Blogtoberfest blogs through the month...there's 264 now so you can't say you're bored...oh sorry that's the kids on holidays, not you lovely readers!

Heavy...Blogtoberfest 2010 - Day 19

Denim quilts are very heavy
Very, very heavy...
and that's my excuse for the slow progress on this one.
16 of the 30 blocks are quilted. Here are some that have been done in the last few days.

This pretty pattern and fat quarter arrived from Samelia'sMum, who incidentally is having a giveaway celebrating 100 followers and 1year blog-o-versary. Have a look over there, especially at her lovely modern table runner.
I have a nice little stash of purples and mauves that will do very nicely for this pattern.

Ok back to the denim

Lost in CyperSpace...Blogtoberfest 2010 - Day 11

...reading blogs...entering giveaways...sighing over GO! cutters...yep I'm totally lost in cyberspace.
Then to bring me back to earth...I got an email to say I'd won one of Catherines Fabulous Friday Freebies:
All I did was put in an order at her on-line shop (one of my favourite) and enter the draw.

There is going to have to be a lot more sewing as opposed to surfing going on at quilary's place when this arrives. I've put the button on my sidebar and you can go visit anytime you like!!
(Hope I haven't used up all my 'luck' for the upcoming blog giveaways from here.)

I only got the yo-yo tree basted and I have to go to work tomorrow, so it's going to have to wait another day.

Slowy going craaazzzy...

I need a day off. I am really and truly, slowly but surely, going nuts.
In the last several weeks, I have had an entire weekend completely taken up by being in the emergency dept of St George Hospital and then The Children's Hospital (courtesy of Minkys collision with a palm tree where she ended up with large palm spikes in her palm). Then there was the swelling and infection. It's all good now, but that 2 days of my and her life neither of us will get back!.
I have spent whole days at sports days and dance eisteddfods...by choice...but boy oh boy do I miss my quilting time.
I have been working 4 day weeks instead of my usual 5 day fortnight and I can feel the walls closing in...(that's not a comment on my workmates - I work with really lovely colleagues)...but boy oh boy do I miss my quilting time.

Anyway, enough of this whingeing!
Here are the missing pictures of some lovely goodness that I received in the post from the lovely Brenda and Katia
Brenda even added in the paisely brooch 'cause she knows my weakness!
I can't stop holding this hexagon!
And can you believe it *blush* I also won this beautiful jelly roll from Leona. Guess I'm going to be humming that silly postman song again for a while.

I have missed the boat on the 2010 Sewing Challenge for May, June and July. I am aiming to get something made for the smocked challenge, but I already know if I keep up this many work days, for sanity's sake it just won't happen *sigh*

I am still planning a little giveaway for post number 100...which is now only 3 posts away.
I was desperately trying to avoid 'drivel' posts that just made up the number, but at this rate I will be lucky to get sensible posts written by my 1 year anniversary.

Now I've done this little catch up post, I am going to make good use of this evening. Wish me luck!
